JUST IN: Papa Ajasco, Femi Ogunrombi, Is Dead

Femi Ogunrombi, a veteran Nollywood actor best known as the second Papa Ajasco, has died.

Husseini Shaibu, a theatre practitioner, confirmed his death on Sunday via his Twitter handle, @Igalaman.

His post read: “I have just been reliably informed that the ethnomusicologist, former Music Instructor with #NATIONALTROUPE and one time stand in for the ‘Papa Ajasco’ character on the popular #waleadenugaprod comic series ‘Papa Ajasco’ Mr Femi Ogunrombi is dead.”

Ogunrombi, who reportedly died on Saturday evening, played Abiodun Ayoyinka’s replacement in the Wale Adenuga Productions comedy show Papa Ajasco.

In the early 1980s, Ogunrombi studied music and drama at Obafemi Awolowo University. He was a multi-instrumentalist, music teacher, composer, actor, music/film producer, and director.

He founded and directed The Ayoro Voices, a choral group at OAU. Between 1980 and 1983, this group was the university’s cultural image.
