JUST IN: Rivers Director Of Youth Mobiliser For Atiku/Okowa Shot

Mr Rhino Owhorkire, the Rivers State Director of Youth Mobilisation for the Atiku/Okowa campaign organization, was reportedly shot by unknown gunmen suspected to be political thugs.

On Wednesday night, Owhorkire was allegedly shot while returning home to Aluu, Ikwerre Local Government Area of the State, according to Tribune Online.

The Youth Mobilisation Director was shot slightly more than a month after he was allegedly kidnapped and forced to denounce his support for Atiku.

Owhorkire was seen in a viral video last month in a cave-like setting denouncing support for Atiku under duress. In the video, he was surrounded by people who were watching his every move, even though he was visibly terrified.

Okon Effion, the State Commissioner of Police, then ordered an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the viral video.

According to a source who spoke with Tribune Online on Thursday, the attackers shot at Owhorkire’s vehicle tyres before shooting at him through the windscreen.

The source, who spoke on the condition of anonymity due to his personal security, said Owhorkire was in pain and was being treated at an undisclosed medical facility.

He said, “He is a native of Aluu. He was driving to his house yesterday night and was shot by some unknown persons.

“They shot the tyres of his car, shot directly at his windscreen and that is how he received those injuries on his mouth. His mouth was scattered.

“As I speak with you, he is in serious pain. His mouth is scattered. But he is receiving treatment in an undisclosed hospital.”

When contacted, the spokesperson of the state police command, Grace Iringe-Koko said she would send the command’s position after she gets briefed on the matter.
