Just In: Teacher-Remanded For Flogging 8-Year-Old Pupil To Death In Anambra (Details)

A primary school teacher, Mrs. Faith Nwoye, who allegedly flogged her eight-year-old pupil to death at Landmark International School Mgbakwu, Awka North Local Government Area of Anambra State, has been remanded in a Correctional Centre.

Nwoye was remanded following a hearing in a Special Court that handles women and children-related matters in the state. The case was brought to court after a petition by Mr. Ojiakor Okonkwo against the school’s proprietor, Mrs. Promise Iloh, and Nwoye, was submitted to Commissioner for Education, Prof. Ngozi Chuma-Udeh.

The suspects were summoned to explain the circumstances leading to the brutalization of Henry Chukwuemeka Okonkwo, who later died. The matter was then handed over to the police for investigation.

The Commissioner for Education has ordered the immediate closure of the school, citing its illegal operations.

“As soon as the police are done, this teacher will face further legal action for violating child rights. She will face the full wrath of the law for her actions,” Chuma-Udeh stated.
