Edo State politician, Eng Moses Omo-Ikirodah has harped on the need for parents to bring back the culture of morality in training our kids. According to him only concerted efforts by parents to teach the essence of morals and ethical values at an early age would help shape the future of the child.

He condoled with the family of Slyvester Oromoni while commending the Lagos State Government for shutting down Dowen College in order to carry out a thorough investigation.

The youthful politician made this known in a statement made available to the press marking the 7th day the young hero was bullied to death for refusing to join a cult gang.

“It is worrisome and disturbing that our schools which are supposed to be a citadel of learning that is meant to be a fortress in the training of our kids in morality and ethical values have turned into a harvest ground for cult gangs.

As we mourn the death of the young hero, Sylvester Oromoni for refusing to be a part of a cult group we should as parents make collective efforts in bringing back morality and ethical values in training our kids.

Knowing good moral values such as compassion, humility, kindness, courage, and submission at an early age builds a child’s character. Parents have failed their wards in teaching them the right path to follow, in the quest for financial independence and other social pressures they have failed in making sure our kids are properly brought up in the fear of God and man.

I commend the Lagos State government for shutting down the college to enable the relevant authorities to carry out thorough investigations.

I offer my sincere and deepest condolences to the family of Sylvester Oromoni and pray to the Lord to give them the strength to cope up with the loss and to be able to pass through this difficult time, it is evident that the young Slyvester was well trained which has shown he lived a purpose-driven life.

He was confident of himself, the memory of Slyvester will live on and we will celebrate his life each day.

The 12-year-old Sylvester Oromoni was allegedly beaten to death by some senior pupils of Dowen College in his hostel room for refusing to join a cult.
