Kachikwu Breaks Silence: ‘They’re Gangging Up To Feed Their Starving Wallets!’

Speaking during a press conference in Abuja, Kachikwu dismissed the Atiku-led coalition as nothing more than a desperate power grab by politicians unable to survive outside the corridors of power. According to iReporter Online, Kachikwu warned that the coalition is not a national salvation movement but a platform for political elites to resuscitate their personal financial empires.

“What we are witnessing is not a patriotic effort to rescue Nigeria,” Kachikwu stated. “Instead, it’s a coalition of those who have thrived in public office and are now gasping for political relevance. Their mission is not to rescue the country but to rescue themselves from the economic hardship they helped create.”

He also accused Atiku of nurturing the notion that the presidency is an exclusive entitlement of the northern region. According to Kachikwu, this mindset has significantly contributed to the fragmentation of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). According to iReporter Online, he cited Atiku’s repeated bids for the presidency—especially his resistance to President Olusegun Obasanjo’s second term and the subsequent undermining of President Goodluck Jonathan—as evidence of his long-standing ambition to dominate the political scene at the expense of unity and fairness.

Kachikwu further alleged that Atiku is currently misleading Labour Party’s Peter Obi into believing that only he can secure northern votes, a tactic Kachikwu described as disingenuous and manipulative. He insisted that the southern region is rightfully due for an eight-year presidency and that any credible challenge to President Bola Tinubu in 2027 must come from the South.

According to iReporter Online, Kachikwu’s remarks reflect a growing skepticism among younger and reform-minded politicians toward alliances that recycle the same political figures who, in their view, have failed the country over the decades.
