Kaffy Launches ‘Sisters’ Circle’ To Unite African Women Across Generations
In celebration of Women’s Month, Nigerian dancer and wellness advocate Dr. Kafayat ‘Kaffy’ Shafau has inaugurated the first session of her empowerment initiative, ‘Sisters’ Circle.’ The event, held in Lagos, convened women from diverse age groups and backgrounds for in-depth discussions on holistic health, financial planning, and fostering stronger community bonds. The conference, themed “Wealth. Wellness. Womanhood,” aims to bridge generational gaps among African women.
According to reports, Kaffy explained that the initiative stems from her personal experiences growing up in Africa, where she often navigated adult responsibilities without guidance or mentorship. “We need spaces where those who have gone before us can teach us how to manage people and prioritize our health,” she said.
Kaffy emphasized that while many women achieve professional success, conversations on balancing career and motherhood remain limited. She highlighted the “directional gap” facing younger women, noting the overwhelming information in society that can confuse Generation Z. “‘Sisters’ Circle’ is here to correct that. Women can’t continue to live in victimhood. The goal is to build an authentic community of sisters equipped with knowledge and self-awareness,” she added.
Breaking from the usual annual model, Kaffy confirmed that the initiative will be held quarterly, with the next session scheduled for July. She also revealed plans to expand the program to rural communities through local dialects, making the discussions accessible to women and men in grassroots areas.
The event featured contributions from speakers including Dr. Tewa Onasanya, Grace Ofure, Uriel Oputa, Dr. Chizor Malize, and others, all contributing to a vision of empowering African women across generations.
