A Magistrate’s Court in Kano has ordered the remand of Nazifi Kafir Liringo in a correctional centre over the alleged killing of his friend while the pair were cutting grass in Abuja.

Liringo, a resident of Dambatta Local Government Area of Kano State, was arraigned before Magistrate Court 27, Nomans Land, presided over by Magistrate Hauwa Abba Musa, on a charge of culpable homicide under Section 222 of the Penal Code.

According to reports, Prosecutor Maryam Halilu Dantiye informed the court that the charge was newly filed and sought permission for it to be read to the defendant.

The charge was subsequently read to Liringo by the court clerk, Muhammad Musa Tudun Wada.

However, proceedings could not proceed further after the court determined that it lacked jurisdiction to entertain the matter.

The magistrate thereafter ordered that Liringo be remanded in a correctional centre and adjourned the case until October 6, 2026.

Police alleged that Liringo attacked his friend, Zaharaddin Adamu, with a cutlass while they were cutting grass in Abuja.

Adamu reportedly sustained serious injuries in the incident and later died from the wounds.
