According to Ireporter Online, the former Kano State deputy governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2023 general elections, Yusuf Dambatta, has officially defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Dambatta announced his resignation from the PDP in a statement released on Sunday, noting that his decision followed extensive consultations with political leaders, associates, supporters, and other stakeholders. He explained that his move to the APC was driven by his conviction that the party provides a more suitable platform to contribute meaningfully to the development of Kano State and Nigeria at large.

He further stated that he was encouraged by what he described as the growing inclusiveness within the APC, as well as the party’s commitment to improving the welfare of citizens and advancing national development.

Dambatta also expressed admiration for Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf’s leadership and the Kano First Agenda, which he said reflects a strong commitment to good governance, infrastructure development, human capital growth, and overall progress in the state. He emphasized that his political decision was guided by a desire to promote unity, peace, prosperity, and sustainable development.
