It Just Happened” – Nkem Owoh Shares Surprising Journey Into Nollywood
Famous Nollywood comic actor Nkem Owoh, popularly known as Osuofia, has disclosed that his journey into acting was unplanned and happened by chance rather than design.
According to Ireporter Online, the veteran actor made the revelation during a recent appearance on the Selah Meditate podcast, where he explained that he initially worked behind the scenes as a scriptwriter before being encouraged to perform in front of the camera due to his natural comedic ability.
Owoh stated that his transition began when colleagues persuaded him to take on a short on-screen comedy segment, which unexpectedly marked the beginning of his acting breakthrough as audiences responded positively to his performance.
He further recounted that a brief stand-up comedy programme created for him in the 1980s played a pivotal role in his rise, as viewers appreciated his delivery, leading to more screen opportunities and ultimately a full shift into acting.
The actor added that continuous encouragement from industry colleagues who believed in his on-screen talent helped solidify his career path in Nollywood.
He also reflected on the realities of fame, noting that while it appears glamorous from the outside, it often comes with significant limitations and a loss of personal freedom.
