Sources revealed that Anjarwalla’s arrest in Kenya marks a crucial step towards his extradition, with INTERPOL playing a pivotal role in facilitating the process. This development follows the Federal Government’s determination to locate and bring Anjarwalla to justice after his escape from lawful custody in Nigeria.
Previously, the EFCC Chairman, Ola Olukoyede, had emphasized the agency’s collaboration with international partners, including INTERPOL, the FBI, and various governments, to secure Anjarwalla’s extradition. Anjarwalla faces charges related to tax evasion, currency speculation, and money laundering, amounting to $35.4 million. His extradition is part of a broader effort to combat financial irregularities and maintain stability in Nigeria’s forex market.
The EFCC’s pursuit of Anjarwalla underscores its commitment to curbing financial crimes and holding individuals and organizations accountable for their actions. With Anjarwalla’s apprehension and impending extradition, the Nigerian authorities aim to send a clear message about the consequences of engaging in illicit financial activities.
As the extradition process unfolds, coordinated efforts between Nigerian and international law enforcement agencies will play a crucial role in ensuring Anjarwalla’s return to Nigeria to face the charges against him.
