Allegations Against Ganduje: Kano Anti-corruption Commission Reveals Sale Of Government Company To Family
The Kano State Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission (PCCAC) has disclosed startling revelations about former Governor Abdullahi Ganduje, alleging that he sold a government-owned company to his family at an absurdly low price……READ ALSO Allegations Surface: Ganduje Accused Of Embezzling State Funds Through BDCs
According to the Chairman of the Commission, Muhuyi Magaji, Ganduje orchestrated the sale of a state-owned cotton ginnery to his family, including the former first family of the state. Magaji emphasized that Ganduje’s wife played a significant role as the secretary of the accounts linked to siphoning state funds.
Magaji highlighted that the cotton ginnery, a crucial asset of the state dealing with cotton processing, was sold off to Ganduje’s family at a fraction of its actual value. Instead of its estimated worth of N2 billion, the company was sold for a meager N320 million.
Furthermore, Magaji revealed that only a portion of the sale amount, approximately N90 million, was traced, indicating potential misappropriation of funds. He underscored that such actions not only defrauded the state but also deprived it of significant revenue.
The Commission’s investigation into Ganduje’s activities aims to serve as a deterrent to other government officials, emphasizing the imperative of accountability and transparency in governance.
In a related development, Abdulazeez Ganduje, the former governor’s son, recently visited the anti-graft agency to express support for the investigation against his father, mother, and brother. This move comes after Abdulazeez had previously filed a complaint against his mother, Hafsat Ganduje, involving bribery and land fraud allegations with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in 2021.
The revelations underscore the pressing need for thorough scrutiny and accountability in public office, ensuring that individuals entrusted with governance uphold ethical standards and act in the best interests of the citizens they serve.
