This declaration comes amidst allegations levied against the party’s national chairman, Julius Abure, regarding financial misconduct totaling N3.5 billion.
Leading the LP chairpersons, Ceekay Igara from Abia State, who heads the Council of State Chairpersons of LP, stated their refusal to accept the financial fraud accusations against Abure.
The LP chairpersons made this stance known after a meeting held at the party’s national secretariat.
While Abure has refuted the allegations against him, Obi has demanded an impartial investigation into the party’s financial affairs by a reputable audit firm.
Igara emphasized the support for Obi’s decision to engage an independent auditor, expressing confidence that the investigation’s findings would clear Abure’s name and debunk the falsehoods spread by the suspended treasurer.
Additionally, Igara dismissed rumors suggesting the party was contemplating suspending Obi, affirming his leadership status and commitment to leading the party towards national transformation.
He reassured that the ongoing situation was orchestrated and would soon dissipate, while emphasizing the party’s dedication to liberating the nation from its present challenges under the current administration.
