The Lagos State Police Command has dismissed reports suggesting that the Commissioner of Police, Olohundare Jimoh, ordered an investigation into alleged sexual harassment involving Pastor Chris Okafor.

According to Ireporter Online, the command’s spokesperson, Superintendent of Police Adebisi Abimbola, described the circulating claims as inaccurate and misleading. She clarified that at no time did the Commissioner of Police direct officers to commence a sexual harassment probe, noting that such an issue was never formally presented or discussed within the command.

Abimbola explained that the matter arose after a journalist forwarded screenshots and social media posts to the police, which contained allegations linking the pastor to murder-related claims. She stated that the Commissioner of Police was merely briefed about the existence of the online reports and did not approve or initiate any formal investigation into sexual misconduct.

She added that the materials were sent to the Commissioner strictly for his awareness, after which he instructed the State Criminal Investigation Department to verify whether the murder-related allegations circulating online had any basis. According to her, this directive was limited to fact-checking and did not amount to launching a full-scale investigation.

The police spokesperson further disclosed that no invitation has been issued to Pastor Okafor or any other individual in connection with the matter. She noted that the command’s social media team is still reviewing the online claims to determine their authenticity.

Abimbola expressed surprise at subsequent media reports alleging that the pastor was under investigation for sexual harassment, stressing that such claims were unfounded and never deliberated upon by the police. She urged members of the public and the media to refrain from spreading misinformation, emphasizing that the Commissioner of Police only authorized a verification of murder-related online allegations and did not order any probe into sexual harassment.
