Lagos Police Launch Investigation Into CCTV Shop Explosion In Ikeja

The Lagos State Police Command has commenced an investigation into an explosion that occurred at a CCTV equipment store in Computer Village, Ikeja.

Hundeyin explained that emergency response teams—including the Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Unit, Mobile Police Detachment, and Conventional Police Units—swiftly secured and cordoned off the affected area to ensure public safety and facilitate thorough investigations.

“The EOD specialists conducted a comprehensive sweep of the scene to eliminate any further risks and to gather evidence needed to determine the precise cause of the explosion,” he stated.

Shortly after the blast, the Commissioner of Police, CP Olohundare Jimoh, arrived at the scene to conduct an on-the-spot assessment.

While investigations are still underway to establish the root cause of the explosion, CP Jimoh called on Lagos residents to remain calm, assuring them that there is no ongoing threat and that the situation has been brought under control.

“The public is encouraged to continue with their daily activities without fear or panic, as the area has been declared safe,” the statement read.

The police confirmed that five individuals in and around the shop sustained varying degrees of injuries and were promptly transported to the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH) for medical treatment.

The Lagos State Police Command reaffirmed its dedication to ensuring the safety and security of all residents across the state.
