Lauretta Onochie Urges Tinubu to Enforce ‘No Work, No Pay’ as NLC Threatens Nationwide Strike Over Joe Ajaero’s Arrest

Lauretta Onochie, a notable member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has voiced her opinion in response to the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) directing workers to halt the nation’s economy if its President, Comrade Joe Ajaero, is arrested.
The NLC’s strong stance follows an invitation from the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) to Joe Ajaero. He has been called in for questioning related to serious allegations, including terrorism financing and treasonable felony, as reported by Vanguard.
In light of these developments, Lauretta Onochie has urged President Bola Tinubu to take a decisive approach. She stressed that if the NLC resists cooperating with the police investigation, which concerns national security, the President should enforce the “No Work, No Pay” policy, a rule already upheld by the National Industrial Court. Onochie argues that it’s time to abandon the soft approach that has failed to produce results in such critical matters.
Expressing her concerns on her official , Onochie stated: “Dear Mr. President, Bola Tinubu, If NLC cannot back the police to investigate a crime bothering national security, involving their Ajaero, you need to stand on the ruling of the National Industrial Court, which supports ‘No Work, No Pay.’ Enough of the Kids Gloves approach. It doesn’t work.”
This situation highlights the growing tension between the federal government and the NLC, with potential implications for the nation’s economy and security.
