Maduka Okoye Shines: Makes Serie A Team Of The Week

According to reports, Nigerian international goalkeeper Maduka Okoye has earned a place in the Serie A Team of the Week following an outstanding performance for Udinese, despite their 1-0 loss to Juventus last weekend.

Okoye showcased remarkable reflexes and composure, making several key saves to keep Udinese competitive throughout the match. The only goal of the game came seven minutes before halftime when Jeremie Boga struck for the visitors.

Throughout the encounter, Okoye denied Boga twice and thwarted attempts from Manuel Locatelli, Kenan Yildiz, and Fabio Miretti, earning plaudits for his consistent performance. This marks the 26-year-old’s first inclusion in the weekly selection this season, having now appeared 21 times in the league.

The Serie A Team of the Week also features defenders Dodô of Fiorentina, Leo Østigård of Genoa CFC, and Antonio Caracciolo of Pisa SC. Midfielders Gustav Isaksen, Emirhan İlkhan, Matteo Politano, and Lucas Da Cunha were recognized, while forwards Roberto Piccoli, Stefano Moreo, and Giovanni Simeone lead the attack.

Former Juventus goalkeeper Emanuele Belardi commended Okoye’s showing, describing him as “an excellent shot-stopper” while noting that he continues to refine his game management. “He sometimes plays too instinctively, but the progress he has made is evident. He has matured significantly,” Belardi added.
