Major Shake-Up In Police Hierarchy As PSC Approves New DIG, Promotes 400+ Officers

According to Ireporter Online, the Police Service Commission (PSC) has approved the appointment of Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG) Dankwara Adamu Mohammed as the new Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG), representing the North East geopolitical zone. Mohammed replaces DIG Sahabu Abubakar Yahaya, who recently retired from service.

In the same development, the Commission also promoted Commissioner of Police (CP) Abibo Deinma Reuben to the rank of Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG).

Additionally, the PSC confirmed the promotion of eleven Deputy Commissioners of Police (DCPs) to the rank of substantive Commissioners of Police (CPs). Those promoted include Naziru Bello Kankarofi, Nendel Joseph Gomwalk, Tijani Olaiwola Fatai, Wilson Aniefiok Akpan, Morkwap Dongshal, Abdullateef Ajape Yusuf, Cletus Nwadiogbu, Ahmed Mohammed Bello, Abdulraheem Nurudeen, Patrick Daaor, and Umar Mohammed Hadejia.

The promotions were among the major highlights of the Commission’s 2nd Plenary Meeting held at the Solomon Arase Conference Hall, presided over by the PSC Chairman, retired DIG Hashimu Argungu (mni). The meeting was attended by Honourable Commissioners Justice Paul Adamu Galumje, DIG Taiwo Lakanu (rtd), Justice Christine Ladi Dabup, and Chief Onyemuche Nnamani, Secretary to the Commission.

In a statement issued by the PSC’s Head of Press and Public Relations, Ikechukwu Ani, thirteen Assistant Commissioners of Police (ACPs) were elevated to the rank of Deputy Commissioners (DCPs). The newly promoted officers include David Gbenga Ojo, Umaru Bello Bichi, Bala Salihu Jarumai, Makanjuola Abiodun, Shafii Abdulkarim, Mohammed Ajose, Mukter Bello of Delta Command, and Madamani Adamu. Others are Omololu Vaughan, Linus Ogbodo, Emmanuel Anene Ogbuanya, Tijani Richard Gotom, and Shehu Sambo Bawa Ibrahim.

The Commission also approved the elevation of forty-four Chief Superintendents of Police (CSPs) to the rank of Assistant Commissioners (ACPs), among them Victoria Olayinka Mulero, Alirat Odunola Adedeji, Olufunmilola Oluwaseun Amore, and Ezeokafor Emmanuel Nnonso.

Furthermore, 412 Superintendents of Police (SPs) were promoted to Chief Superintendents. Notable among them are Odey Peters Idaba, Emmanuel Peter Okoh, Mohammed Dan-Mallam Abdulrahman, Fawole Oludayo, Ntum Onyekachi, and Nwaneri Georgina Oluchi, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Abakaliki Road.

Also on the list of promoted officers are Njoku Chibueze Onwe, DPO Akwete Abia Command; Chukwuemeka Howells Anyimukwu, DPO Uturu Abia State; and Ngozi Ajaegbu of the Police Special Fraud Unit, Lagos Annex. Several other officers across commands in Enugu, Ebonyi, Kano, and the FCT were also recognized for elevation.

The Commission further promoted several Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSPs) to the rank of Superintendent of Police (SP), including Rekpene Ukpabi Ekoh of Ebonyi Command, Tonga Monday of PMF 48 Ahoada, Rivers State, and Omiegbu Christian Emenike of Delta Command.

Additionally, the PSC confirmed the appointments of a number of Assistant Superintendents of Police (ASPs), including Obike Elizabeth attached to SPU National Assembly, Adeoye Olufemi of Lagos Command, and Osuagwu Precious Chioma of SPU Base 6, Port Harcourt, among others.

In his remarks, PSC Chairman DIG Argungu (rtd) congratulated the newly promoted officers, urging them to rededicate themselves to the service of the nation and uphold the highest standards of professionalism and integrity in their duties.
