Makinde Targets Institutional Reform, Sends Fresh Nominees To Oyo Assembly

Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has formally transmitted the names of nominees for the reconstitution of the Oyo State Judicial Service Commission and the State Civil Service Commission to the State House of Assembly for screening and confirmation.

According to IReporter Online, the Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin, read the letters conveying the nominations during Monday’s plenary session. The nominations, Governor Makinde stated, are in accordance with Section 197 of the 1999 Constitution (as amended), which empowers the Governor to constitute such commissions with the consent of the legislature.

For the Judicial Service Commission, the Chief Judge of the state, Hon. Justice Iyabo Yerima, is to serve as the statutory Chairperson. Other nominated members include Barr. Musibau Adetunbi, Barr. Wahab Adedigba, Chief Joshua Abioye, and Mrs. Moyosore Ajani.

In a separate communication, the Governor also submitted the list of nominees for the Civil Service Commission, comprising Alhaji Aderibigbe Kamoru Abiodun as Chairman, Alhaji Kolajo Isiaq Adewale and Mr. Olutoyin Adedeji Akanmu as full-time Commissioners, while Pastor Taiwo Oluwagbemiro and Mr. Oladimeji Oladapo were nominated as part-time Commissioners.

According to IReporter Online, Governor Makinde emphasized the importance of these appointments in enhancing justice administration and public service efficiency across Oyo State. He expressed confidence in the capacity, integrity, and competence of the nominees and urged the lawmakers to accord the list expeditious consideration.

The Speaker of the Assembly assured that the screening of the nominees would commence promptly in line with legislative protocols.

Furthermore, IReporter Online reports that the reconstitution of both commissions is considered a strategic move by the Makinde administration to strengthen governance institutions and drive efficient service delivery in the state.
