Massive Turnout As Abubakar Momoh Flags Off NDDC Free Medical Treatment Outreach In Edo State(Photos)
Auchi, Edo State – In a significant move to improve healthcare in the Niger Delta region, the Honourable Minister of Niger Delta Development, Engr. Abubakar Momoh FNSE, flagged off the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC Free Medical Health Care Mission at Edo State University Teaching Hospital, Auchi, Edo State.
Addressing a large gathering, Minister Momoh stressed the vital role of health as the foundation of wealth and productivity. “A healthy person can achieve whatever they set out to do,” he stated, underscoring the initiative’s potential to uplift the region’s residents.
The outreach program, which commenced on May 12 and will conclude on May 18, has already seen remarkable achievements. Over 720 individuals have received treatment and given free eyeglasses, 18 have undergone successful hernia surgeries, and thousands have benefited from consultations and treatments for various ailments.
Minister Momoh was particularly impressed by the turnout, noting that 3,200 people had already been treated. He expressed optimism that the target of 5,000 beneficiaries would not only be met but surpassed, urging the NDDC to extend their reach even further.
Minister Momoh assured the public that once the implementation of the 2024 budget begins it would mark a new era for the Niger Delta. “The people of the Niger Delta will witness a clear difference between the ministry of now and before, as well as the NDDC of now and before,” he declared. He expressed gratitude to President Bola Tinubu for his steadfast support for the region, which he believes is crucial for its transformation.
Following the flag-off, the Vice Chancellor of Edo State University Uzairue, Prof. Emmanuel Aluyor, conducted a facility tour of the teaching hospital for Minister Momoh and NDDC officials. This tour highlighted the hospital’s capabilities and the improvements made possible by the initiative.
Prof. Aluyor expressed deep gratitude for hosting the impactful outreach. He praised the NDDC, the Ministry of Niger Delta Development, and the administration of President Bola Tinubu for their commitment to improving the lives of thousands of people of the Niger Delta Region.
The event was graced by prominent figures, including the Archbishop of the Catholic Diocese of Auchi, traditional rulers from across Edo North, representatives from the Edo State government, and various organizations.
