This military action follows an urgent request from Kebbi State Governor, Dr. Nasir Idris, for federal support to address the group’s increasing aggression.

The newly deployed troops, equipped with armoured vehicles and advanced weaponry, met with Kebbi State Deputy Governor, Senator Umar Tafida, before heading towards Mera village. There, they engaged with the terrorists and recovered cattle abandoned by the group during the clash.

Abdullahi Idris Zuru, the governor’s spokesperson, emphasized the critical role of these troops, as Lakurawa’s attacks continue to threaten rural communities.

“The governor has made it clear that the safety of Kebbi’s citizens is a priority, prompting him to seek federal intervention to combat terrorism throughout the state,” Zuru stated.
