Minister Of Education Steps In: Enugu College Students Suspended After Bullying Investigation

The suspension was ordered by the Minister of Education, Tunji Alausa, following a viral video showing the students involved in bullying. Alausa reiterated the ministry’s strong commitment to ensuring a safe and supportive learning environment across all federal schools.

According to a recent report received by the Federal Ministry of Education, the incident involved a gang assault on an SS1 student (a day student) on November 7. The video, which circulated widely on social media, sparked concerns over school safety and discipline.

Alausa directed the School-Based Management Committee to work with security agencies to conduct a comprehensive investigation, including looking into any external affiliations. To reinforce safety, law enforcement officers are being deployed to the college, and existing security measures are under review.

Additionally, counseling and rehabilitation support will be offered to help address the issues at hand and foster a positive reintegration into the school community.
