Nigerian media personality Nedu Wazobia has sparked widespread discussion after suggesting that financial status plays a decisive role in determining who is regarded as a role model in Nigeria.

According to reports, the radio host made the remark during a recent podcast conversation with media entrepreneur Chude Jideonwo, where both men discussed the growing influence of wealth and social status in modern society.

During the conversation, Nedu argued that individuals who are financially struggling often find it difficult to command respect or admiration from the public. He maintained that in contemporary Nigerian society, wealth has become a major factor in determining who people celebrate or look up to.

The broadcaster stated that financial success now significantly shapes perceptions of influence and credibility, stressing that individuals without financial resources may struggle to be viewed as inspirational figures.

He alleged that several women residing in the district are unable to comfortably sustain their living expenses despite maintaining an appearance of affluence.

His comments have since generated reactions online, with many Nigerians debating the role of financial success in defining influence, respect and role models within the society.
