Lebara Nigeria

According to Ireporter Online, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has officially welcomed the launch of Lebara Nigeria, describing the milestone as a strong endorsement of the country’s digital economy and its growing position as a hub for technology and investment in Africa.

In a statement released on Saturday by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Mr Bayo Onanuga, the President highlighted the telecommunications sector as one of Nigeria’s most dynamic economic drivers. He noted that the sector recorded a 5.78 per cent year-on-year growth in the third quarter of 2025 and contributes over 14 per cent to the nation’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP).

President Tinubu commended the leadership and partners of Lebara Nigeria, particularly Chief Executive Mrs Teniola Stuffman, for their dedication to expanding telecommunications access, generating employment, and strengthening the country’s digital infrastructure. He emphasized that investments like this are vital for deepening financial inclusion, fostering innovation, and accelerating sustainable economic growth.

The President remarked that the launch of Lebara Nigeria reflects growing investor confidence in the economic reforms his administration is implementing to stabilize the economy and promote private sector-led development. He also acknowledged the presence of the British High Commission, represented by Deputy High Commissioner Mr Johny Baxter, noting that the collaboration underscores the enduring economic and diplomatic ties between Nigeria and the United Kingdom.

He stressed that initiatives such as Lebara Nigeria are expected to significantly enhance job creation, youth empowerment, enterprise development, and economic diversification, particularly within the fast-evolving digital sector.

Reiterating his administration’s dedication to a stable, transparent, and investor-friendly environment, the President assured that support for innovation and private enterprise will continue. He wished Lebara Nigeria success in its commercial operations and encouraged ongoing collaboration between public and private stakeholders to advance Nigeria’s digital transformation agenda.
