Niger 2027: Information Minister Declares Support For Governor Bago

Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, has expressed support for Niger State Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago’s bid to secure a second term in office.

According to Ireporter Online, Idris made his position known during a solidarity visit to the governor in Minna, where he commended Bago’s administration and called for unity among members of the All Progressives Congress ahead of the 2027 elections.

The minister said Bago’s achievements under the administration’s New Niger Agenda demonstrated his commitment to transforming the state and justified the call for another term.

Idris noted that allowing the governor to continue in office would provide an opportunity to consolidate ongoing projects and sustain the development initiatives already introduced across the state.

He also appealed to APC members and Nigerians to support President Bola Tinubu’s bid for re-election in 2027, arguing that continuity would enable the Federal Government to deepen its economic reforms and other programmes under the Renewed Hope Agenda.

According to the minister, the reforms were designed to strengthen the economy and improve the living conditions of Nigerians.

Idris urged APC members to put aside individual interests and work collectively ahead of the 2027 elections, stressing the need for the party to remain united and present a strong political front at both the national and state levels.

The minister was in Niger State to commiserate with the family of the late Chairman of the National Population Commission, Aminu Yussuf, before paying a visit to Governor Bago.

Responding to the visit, Bago thanked Idris for his support and confidence in his administration.

The governor also pledged to sustain his government’s development programmes, assuring residents that his administration would remain focused on improving their welfare and overall quality of life.
