Nigeria Mourns: Acting Army Chief Oluyede Pays Tribute To Late COAS Lagbaja

Reflecting on the nation’s loss, Oluyede remarked, “It’s deeply regrettable. Under the leadership of President Bola Tinubu, everything possible was done to keep him with us. But as we all know, we belong to God, and He decides when our time comes.”

In his tribute, Oluyede conveyed the sorrow felt across the Nigerian Army, stating, “It’s a somber moment for us; the entire Nigerian Army is in mourning because we have lost our leader, Lt. Gen. Lagbaja. He was a selfless, passionate, and dedicated leader who led the Army with courage, thoroughness, and professionalism. His passing is a tremendous loss to us. We pray for his peaceful rest.”

Oluyede also encouraged Nigerians to honor Lagbaja’s legacy, adding, “For a man who gave his all for Nigeria, we should celebrate him. We are grateful to President Bola Tinubu and the First Lady, who were in constant touch during his final days, and to all Nigerians who checked in on him. May his soul rest in peace.”
