A Nigerian national, identified only as Chukuwuma, has been apprehended by the Central Crime Branch (CCB) in Bengaluru, India, for allegedly trafficking drugs valued at over ₦214 million.
According to India Today, the arrest took place during a strategic operation by the CCB’s Narcotics Wing in the Avalahalli area of northern Bengaluru, where the suspect was reportedly attempting to distribute narcotics. Authorities seized MDMA and crystal substances worth over ₹1.2 crore during the raid.
Preliminary investigations revealed that Chukuwuma has been involved in drug trafficking since 2013, importing illicit substances from overseas and distributing them throughout Bengaluru, particularly in the city’s outskirts.
Police disclosed that he is believed to be a key player in an international drug network and had been under surveillance for several weeks prior to his capture. He is currently in custody and undergoing intensive interrogation as authorities seek to uncover the full scope of the trafficking ring and identify his associates.
This arrest adds to the growing number of drug-related cases involving Nigerian nationals abroad, highlighting the continued international effort to combat drug syndicates.
