Nigerian Youth Advocate Earns Global Recognition With Malala Fund Education Grant

The selection acknowledges her sustained, evidence-driven efforts that have translated grassroots realities into impactful policy reforms. Through her advocacy, Nasarawa State adopted the School Re-Entry Guideline for Adolescent Mothers, a landmark policy that guarantees young mothers the right to return to school without stigma or discrimination.

In addition, her work contributed to the development of the Sexual Violence Reporting and Management Framework for Schools in the Federal Capital Territory, strengthening institutional mechanisms for preventing, reporting, and responding to cases of school-related sexual violence.

The Education Champions Grant is designed to support grassroots leaders whose initiatives are driving systemic change for girls facing barriers such as early pregnancy, sexual violence, and harmful social norms. Observers note that Olanike’s selection reflects her capacity to influence policy while safeguarding the educational rights of vulnerable girls.

As a member of Cohort 8, she will receive multi-year grant support and become part of a global network of education champions committed to ensuring that every girl has access to 12 years of safe and quality education.

The recognition places Teenage Network on an international platform, further amplifying its mission to ensure that no girl is denied education due to violence, stigma, or circumstance.
