NNPP Suspends Founding Member, Publicity Secretary, Gives Reason
The New Nigerian Peoples Party (NNPP) National Working Committee (NWC) has announced the immediate suspension of Boniface Aniebonam, a founding member of the party, and Agbo Major, its National Publicity Secretary.
The suspension is pending the conclusion of investigations by the party’s Disciplinary Committee.
The party, in a statement signed by Acting National Chairman Mallam Abba Kawu Alli, cited the reason for the suspension as the disruptive behavior of the party’s founding chairman, who was accused of treating the political platform as his personal domain.
The statement recalled recent events that led to the expulsion of two party members, suspension of seven former state chairpersons, and the dissolution of executive committees in nine state chapters.

It highlighted that Dr. Boniface Aniebonam, one of the party’s founders, had taken upon himself the authority to unilaterally reverse decisions made by the National Working Committee, even those ratified by the National Executive Committee (NEC).
The NWC stressed that such behavior could not be allowed to continue. The suspension of Dr. Boniface Okechukwu Aniebonam and Dr. Agbo Major is in line with the party’s constitution. They are suspended pending investigations by the National Level Disciplinary Committee.
The suspended individuals, along with their associates, were accused of engaging in anti-party activities and actions that could potentially harm the party’s reputation. The statement noted that they were also attempting to factionalize the party, along with other previously suspended members.
The statement emphasized that the suspended individuals have the opportunity for a fair hearing before the disciplinary committee and an appeal procedure outlined in the party’s constitution.
It was clarified that a few expelled and suspended members were using Dr. Aniebonam as a cover, pressuring him to undertake actions detrimental to the party’s growth and constitutional operation. The press was urged to accurately label these individuals as “suspended” chairpersons or members of the party, as they might release misleading statements to confuse the public.
