Kachalla Yellow Danbokolo, a dreaded bandit warlord and close ally of Bello Turji, has been confirmed dead alongside six of his top commanders following a fierce ambush by security forces in Zamfara State.

Naija News learnt that Danbokolo and his men were intercepted on Sunday in Shinkafi Local Government Area by a combined team of the Zamfara Community Protection Guards (CPG), Joint Task Force operatives, police, and Department of State Services personnel.

According to security sources, the operation was launched after intelligence revealed that Danbokolo had convened a meeting with six other bandit leaders to plot coordinated attacks on towns and villages in Shinkafi. The gun battle reportedly lasted over two hours, leaving more than 100 of Danbokolo’s foot soldiers dead.

A source familiar with the operation recounted, “The CPG operatives ambushed his gang en route to the forest. Danbokolo was first shot in the leg and tried to flee, but he lost so much blood that he collapsed. When they caught up with him, they beheaded and dismembered him.”

His death is seen as a devastating blow to the network of Bello Turji, under whom Danbokolo served as a strategic pillar. “Turji is said to be in disarray and is reportedly planning to escape to Niger Republic or Chad due to the sustained joint military operations and the blackout of GSM services that has crippled bandit communications,” another source disclosed.

Local sources celebrated the news, with one saying, “Danbokolo was the real commander; Turji mostly issued orders, but it was Danbokolo who carried out the atrocities. We are relieved he’s gone.”

Officials also confirmed that at least 180 of his fighters have been killed and buried over the past week, with many more fleeing after successive raids on their hideouts.

Communities across Sokoto East, Zamfara and the Shinkafi axis, long terrorised by Danbokolo’s reign of terror, are reportedly in a jubilant mood, hopeful that the collapse of his network signals the nearing end of widespread banditry in the region.
