NSCDC Arrests Nine Suspects For Robbery, Attempted Murder In Abuja

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Command, said it has arrested nine persons for attempted murder, robbery and assault.

It said the suspects were arrested at Sabon-Lugbe, Abuja, by a combined team of NSCDC Special Tactical Squad “Operation Adaka-su” after receiving a distress call that hoodlums had invaded the community, attacking residents with knives and other dangerous weapons.

The suspects were said to be making away with the residents valuables such as mobile phones and other electronic gadgets while moving from house to house.

According to the Public Relations Officer of the Command, Samuel Idoko, the suspects had earlier attacked and attempted to stab a personnel of the NSCDC who resides in the community.

Idoko in a statement gave the names of the suspects as Umar Badamasi (“M” 20 years )

Ahmed Rufai (“M” 30 years)  Jamilu Abdullahi (M” 45 years) Jamilu Lawal ( “M” 20 years) Mohammed Kabir( “M” 57 years).

Others are Abubarkar Umar Abdul (“M” 27 years) Aliyu Dodo( “M” 20 years) Faith Rufai (“F” 23 years) and Muhammed Alkasim (“M” 26 years).

Idoko said upon interrogation, one of the suspects, Ahmed Rufai, confessed that the leader of their gang was still at large and the mobile phone taken from the NSCDC operative was sold for fifteen thousand naira (#15,000) only.

He listed exhibits recovered from the suspects as Indian hemp , Knives (4) ,Motor cycle (1)

Charms and one Machete .

The FCT Commandant of NSCDC, Dr. Olusola Odumosu, while parading the suspects at the command headquarters, Abuja, assured of the arrest of other members of the criminal gang currently on the run.

He called on all residents of Abuja to be security conscious at all times and to report all suspicious faces in their environment promptly to relevant security agencies in their vicinity.
