NSCDC Sounds Alarm Over Increasing Cases Of Child Kidnapping In Osun
The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Osun State has raised concerns over a significant increase in child kidnapping incidents. Commandant Michael Adaralewa has urged parents to be extra vigilant during the school holidays when children are more likely to be in public places unsupervised.
In August alone, the NSCDC has reported several disturbing cases. One incident involved a one-year-old child kidnapped by a woman named Tawa, who was supposedly hired to learn bag making from the child’s mother. On the same day, a three-year-old went missing from Ifesowapo Street in Osogbo. Additionally, a five-month-old child was abducted from a farm in Agbeye town while her mother was gathering firewood.
The NSCDC is actively investigating these cases and working with other agencies to locate the missing children and apprehend those responsible. Adaralewa emphasized the importance of thorough vetting of employees and urged parents to closely monitor their children’s whereabouts to ensure their safety.
