NUC Grants Approval For New Degree Programmes At University Of Fortune
According to reports, the National Universities Commission (NUC) has granted approval for several undergraduate degree programmes at the University of Fortune, Igbotako, Ondo State, set to begin in the 2025/2026 academic session.
The approval, conveyed in a letter dated Monday and signed by Abubakar M. Girei, Acting Director of Academic Planning on behalf of NUC Executive Secretary Prof. Abdullahi Yusufu Ribadu, confirmed that the institution met all requirements to commence the programmes. The total admission quota for the new courses has been set at 800 students.
The approved programmes span four faculties: Science and Computing; Law; Basic Medical and Allied Health Sciences; and Social and Management Sciences. Specifically, the Faculty of Science and Computing will offer B.Sc. Information and Communication Technology, B.Sc. Computer Science, and B.Sc. Cyber Security. The Faculty of Law will offer the LL.B. Law programme. The Faculty of Basic Medical and Allied Health Sciences will run B.Sc. Public Health, B.N.Sc Nursing Science, and B.Rad. Radiology. In the Faculty of Social and Management Sciences, the courses include B.Sc. Accounting, B.Sc. Finance, B.Sc. Economics, B.Sc. International Relations, B.Sc. Criminology and Security Studies, B.Sc. Hospitality and Tourism Management, B.Sc. Project Management, B.Sc. Procurement Management, and B.Sc. Intelligence and Security Studies.
The NUC has also instructed the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) to consider the approved programmes for student admissions. The commission assured the University of Fortune of continued support as it expands its academic offerings in accordance with national standards.
