Obaseki Renames 1st Ugbor Road after Archbishop Margret Idahosa

The Governor of Edo State, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, has renamed 1st Ugbor Road in Oredo Local Government Area to honor Archbishop Margaret Benson Idahosa of the Church of God Mission International.

After a thanksgiving service at the Mega Convention 2023, celebrating the 80th birthday of Archbishop Margaret Idahosa in Utesi Community, Ikpoba-Okha Local Government Area of the State, the governor announced the road’s renaming. He praised Archbishop Idahosa’s significant contributions to modern evangelism in Nigeria.

Governor Obaseki recalled how Archbishop Margaret Idahosa and her late husband impacted people’s lives and said she always cares for her children. He acknowledged her efforts in providing healthcare and education to thousands of children in Edo State, expressing gratitude for the hope she brings.

The governor emphasized that Archbishop Margaret Idahosa is an institution in Edo State, playing a vital role in the Pentecostal movement’s modern evangelism in Nigeria. He recognized her family’s contributions to education, healthcare, and youth empowerment, making them pillars of society.

On her 80th birthday, Governor Obaseki expressed the state’s gratitude by immortalizing her name. The road leading to Benson Idahosa University (BIU) Campus, formerly 1st Ugbor Road, has been renamed after her to honor her exceptional contributions to society, the state, and the country.

In addition to this honor, the governor announced the commencement of a Christian music festival from this year. The festival aims to promote young talent and showcase their skills on a global stage. A prize of N50 million will be awarded to the winners of the competition, and youths across Edo State are encouraged to participate and prepare for the event. The prize will be presented by Archbishop Margaret Idahosa herself in December.
