According to Ireporter Online, operatives of the Ondo State Police Command have arrested four suspected members of a motorcycle theft syndicate who allegedly fled the state following intensified security operations. The suspects were apprehended in neighbouring Edo State during an intelligence-driven operation that culminated in the recovery of a stolen motorcycle.

Police sources disclosed that the suspects, identified as Onyeka, Ekene, Sunday and Abubakar, were linked to a notorious gang believed to have been terrorising motorcyclists across parts of Ondo State. During interrogation, the suspects reportedly confessed to their involvement in the theft of motorcycles, while a TVS motorcycle was intercepted from them.

The command explained that the arrests followed an earlier announcement made in December 2025 regarding the disruption of the syndicate and the recovery of two stolen motorcycles. Further investigations and surveillance reportedly led officers to track down the fleeing suspects in Edo State, where they were eventually arrested.

It was gathered that the suspects will be charged to court upon the conclusion of ongoing investigations. The Commissioner of Police in the state, Adebowale Lawal, commended the operatives for their swift, professional and decisive action, describing the operation as a clear demonstration of the command’s enhanced capacity to combat crime effectively.

The police chief reaffirmed the commitment of the Ondo State Police Command to the protection of lives and property, warning that criminal elements would be pursued and brought to justice regardless of where they attempt to hide. He further directed divisional police officers and tactical commanders to maintain heightened vigilance and ensure comprehensive security coverage across the state.

Residents were also urged to remain alert, cooperate with security agencies and promptly report suspicious activities, as part of collective efforts to strengthen public safety and sustain the fight against crime.
