Meanwhile, Forbes has ranked Dangote as the 86th richest person globally, with his net worth surging to $23.9 billion—an 85.27% increase from $12.9 billion in 2023. His financial growth is largely attributed to his 92.3% stake in Dangote Petroleum Refinery & Petrochemicals, which began refining crude oil into diesel, naphtha, and jet fuel in January 2024, and later expanded to petrol production.

The refinery, capable of processing 650,000 barrels per day, received 24 million barrels of Nigerian crude oil in late 2024 and is set to receive up to 12 million barrels from the United States. As of February 10, 2025, it announced plans to reach full operational capacity within the next 30 days.
