Opposition Panic As Thousands Of Edolites Troop Out For Akpata’s Roadshow With Peter Obi, Aisha Yesufu And Others In Attendance

Written By Oshiobugie John

Benin City witnessed an extraordinary display of support yesterday as thousands of Edolites flooded the streets to back Labour Party gubernatorial candidate Olumide Osaigbovo Akpata. The massive turnout, which saw the city’s major areas on lockdown, left the opposition reeling in concern as Akpata’s roadshow, joined by notable figures like Peter Obi and Aisha Yesufu, became the talk of the town.

The roadshow, marking a critical point in the Labour Party’s campaign, featured the beloved Peter Obi, former governor of Anambra State, and members of the Obidient Movement, including Dr. Yunusa Tanko and Dr. Moses Paul. The atmosphere was electric, as thousands of enthusiastic supporters painted the streets in Labour Party colors, signaling a formidable force ahead of the Edo gubernatorial election. Though the rain poured, it did little to dampen the spirits of Edolites, who continued to rally for change under Akpata’s leadership.

Acknowledging the remarkable turnout, Akpata took to his social media page to express his gratitude and share an awe-inspiring video of the event. “Edo people, una too much! Even under the rain, una burst our heads, una face show, and una shoe shine!” he wrote, thanking Peter Obi and others for their support. With just 11 days left until the pivotal election on September 21, 2024, Akpata urged Edolites to make history by casting their votes for the Labour Party, emphasizing the chance to reset Edo State for the better.
