Osun Election: Faleke Fires Back At Davido, Says ‘I’ve Never Rigged Election

The controversy followed a post by Afrobeat singer Davido on his verified account, where he accused Faleke of putting pressure on INEC to alter the outcome of the election in favour of the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Bola Oyebamiji.

Davido had urged the lawmaker to respect the wishes of Osun voters and refrain from allegedly interfering with the collation process.

Reacting to the accusation on Sunday, Faleke dismissed the claim, insisting that he had never rigged or influenced an election and had no intention of doing so.

The APC chieftain explained that his presence in Osun was strictly to support his party’s candidate, while noting that Davido had openly supported his uncle, Governor Ademola Adeleke, who contested the election on the platform of the Accord Party.

Faleke said, “I have never influenced or rigged before and I don’t plan to start now. Face your music while we face our politics.”

He further maintained that INEC is an independent electoral body that could not be manipulated by him or any individual.

According to him, his involvement in the election was limited to campaigning and supporting the APC candidate, just as Davido exercised his right to support Adeleke.

“ I came to Osun to support my party’s candidate, while you supported your uncle’s party, Accord. INEC is a body that can’t be influenced by me or anyone else,” Faleke stated.

The exchange has attracted attention following the declaration of Adeleke as the winner of the election, with the governor defeating Oyebamiji after securing 511,067 votes against the APC candidate’s 444,815 votes.
