Oyo APC Stakeholders Throw Support Behind Alli For Governorship

According to Ireporter Online, stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State are rallying behind Senator Sharafadeen Alli, representing Oyo South Senatorial District, as a consensus candidate for the 2027 governorship election.

Alli, who previously served as Secretary to the Oyo State Government and Chief of Staff under former Governor Rashidi Ladoja, later chaired Odu’a Investment before becoming a senator, is reportedly favored by party leaders for the upcoming election.

Sources familiar with the matter revealed that APC stakeholders from Oyo State are scheduled to meet in Abuja on Friday, March 27, to discuss potential compensations for other aspirants ahead of Alli’s formal declaration. Consultations are said to be ongoing within the party to ensure that all interests are addressed.

Multiple sources noted that the report presented to President Bola Tinubu regarding Alli’s candidacy does not mark the conclusion of the selection process. Further discussions are reportedly taking place across the country to secure broader support from aspirants and party leaders.

A party insider emphasized that the APC prefers a consensus approach over direct primaries, describing the latter as a strenuous process, while assuring that all aspirants would be accommodated fairly.
