One passenger, who spoke anonymously to IREPORTERONLINE, detailed the harrowing experience:

“The flight departed at 11:50 pm, smooth and uneventful until we approached Senegal. The seatbelt signs were off, and food and drinks had been served. Suddenly, the plane dropped violently, and I hit my head on the ceiling, leaving blood stains as evidence. I lost consciousness briefly and was revived by a brave medical professional onboard.

“Panic spread as people screamed, invoking God’s name. One flight attendant was visibly terrified, and a woman heading to the restroom sustained severe injuries. This ordeal lasted 20 minutes, with the plane dropping three times before the pilots managed to stabilize it.”

Passengers were informed of navigation issues before the skilled pilots managed to return safely to Lagos.

Hotel Chaos

Upon landing, the passengers were lodged at the Ibis Hotel on Airport Road, Lagos, with promises of further updates. However, one passenger expressed frustration, saying:

“At noon on Friday, no one had communicated with us. I went to the reception, where I met others in the same situation. Eventually, I accompanied some passengers to United’s office, where I was offered a Turkish Airlines flight. I declined, opting to wait for another United Airlines direct flight the next day.
