The demolition was carried out by the Zamfara Anti-thuggery Committee, which was established by the state’s governor, Bello Matawalle.

Bello Bakyasuwa, Chairman of the Committee, told reporters on Sunday that the campaign office was demolished after intelligence reports that it was being used as a hideout.

Bakyasuwa claimed that the campaign office’s occupants were selling stolen vehicle parts, motorcycles, and drugs.

He went on to say that the committee, which was formed to combat thuggery and other forms of violence in the state, recovered some women’s clothing during a raid on the office.

He said: “Based on the available intelligence report to my committee on the party campaign office which we demolished today, it indicated that the occupants are selling spare parts of stolen vehicles, motorcycles, and drugs.

Bakyasuwa also stated that the committee is working around the clock to combat political thuggery and ensure that all political parties in the state have a smooth electioneering campaign

He also said “As the election draws nearer, my committee is saddled with the responsibility to ensure a peaceful campaign and election in the state.

“I am appealing to political parties and politicians to cooperate with the anti-thuggery committee in its efforts to ensure peaceful electioneering campaigns and elections in the state.”

The former Lagos State Governor stated that he wants the election to be based on facts and truth, claiming that the campaigns have been a mix of facts and falsehood.

He also urged religious leaders to educate their followers on the importance of exercising their right to vote, urging voters to vote for the candidate based on his track record.
The former Lagos governor also stated that if elected, his administration will diversify the country’s economy in order to achieve growth and ensure food security through increased productivity and farming income.
