Paul Onuachu Snubs Mega Saudi Deal, Chooses Loyalty At Trabzonspor

According to Ireporter Online, Nigerian striker Paul Onuachu has turned down a lucrative offer from a Saudi Arabian club, choosing to remain with Turkish side Trabzonspor despite growing transfer interest.

The 31-year-old forward, who joined Trabzonspor from Southampton last summer, has enjoyed a remarkable season in Turkey, netting 23 goals in 27 appearances and emerging as one of Europe’s most sought-after strikers. Onuachu, who helped Nigeria secure third place at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, recorded a 10-game scoring streak before it ended against Eyüpspor last week.

Reports indicate that the Saudi club offered a salary reportedly four times higher than his current earnings, but Onuachu declined the proposal. Trabzonspor has taken a firm position, confirming that the striker is not for sale. With a contract running until 2028, plus a one-year option, the club plans to retain Onuachu, effectively closing the door on potential transfers.

Interest in Onuachu remains high across Europe and Asia. Juventus, Stade Rennais, and Al Ahli are reportedly monitoring his situation closely, with expectations of an active summer transfer window. Analysts note that while his age may not make him a long-term investment, his physical presence and goal-scoring ability make him a valuable asset for clubs seeking immediate impact.

Currently, Onuachu is with the Nigerian national team in Antalya ahead of friendly matches against Iran and Jordan. Nigeria will face Iran at 2 p.m. today, March 26, in preparation for upcoming international fixtures.
