Although the PDP had initially aligned with Udeh-Okoye, the party has yet to issue an official response to the Supreme Court verdict restoring Anyanwu—an influential figure closely associated with the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.

The governors are also expected to examine the unfolding political crisis in Rivers State, including the contentious suspension of Governor Siminalayi Fubara, who also holds the position of PDP Vice Chairman. His suspension followed the declaration of a state of emergency in Rivers by President Bola Tinubu, further intensifying political tensions in the state.

Discussions will likely extend to the role of former Vice President and 2023 presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, who has been advocating for a coalition of opposition parties to form a more formidable political alliance ahead of the 2027 elections. The governors will assess the viability of such a merger and its potential ramifications for the PDP’s structure and electoral performance.

In addition, the meeting will cover broader topics including strategies for party reconciliation, fostering internal unity, and preparing for the upcoming national elections.
