Peter Obi, Nenadi Usman, and Top Labour Party Officials Hold Strategic Meeting

Labour Party (LP) leaders recently held a strategic meeting as preparations for the 2027 general elections intensify. According to a statement released on Friday by Ken Asogwa, Senior Special Adviser (Media) to the party’s Interim National Chairman Senator Nenadi Usman, the virtual meeting took place on August 7, 2025, with the participation of key party stakeholders.

During the session, members reaffirmed their dedication to strengthening democratic principles in Nigeria. The meeting also unanimously expressed confidence in Senator Nenadi Usman’s leadership as Interim National Chairman.

The statement emphasized the party’s resolve to deepen efforts aimed at sustaining democratic institutions amid the evolving political landscape. Prominent attendees included the 2023 Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi, Governor of Abia State Dr. Alex Otti, Senator Darlington Nwokocha (Interim National Secretary), Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour (LP Lagos governorship candidate 2023), Deputy National Chairmen Mohammed Usman Misau and Prof. Theophilus Ndubuaku, Deputy Governor of Abia State Ikechukwu Emetu, Senators Victor Umeh and Okey Ezea, former acting National Chairman Maria Labeke, former NBA President Olumide Akpata, and representatives from the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) and Trade Union Congress (TUC).

This gathering signals the party’s united front as it charts its course toward the 2027 elections.
