Ramhan Nansel, the spokesperson for the Nasarawa Police Command, revealed that the arrests followed reports of rampant robberies along the perilous Doma-Rukubi Road in the Ekye Development Area of Doma Local Government Area (LGA) in the state.

Nansel detailed the successful operation, stating, “On Thursday, February 22, 2024, at about 1800hrs, police operatives attached to Ekye Division executed a flawless ambush on the criminals at Kwanar Kare—a notorious hotspot along Doma-Rukubi Road frequented by armed robbers preying on unsuspecting road users.”

The apprehended suspects, Abdullahi Basso and Saidu Isah, both males hailing from Rugan Maigari in Rukubi village, were intercepted dressed in military attire as they prepared to carry out their nefarious activities. Alongside their capture, authorities seized a sum of three hundred thousand naira in cash, a knife, and assorted items serving as incriminating evidence.

Further investigation revealed that the suspects confessed to a previous robbery incident involving one Mallam Barka, during which they relieved him of N500,000 at the same location.

In the wake of the successful operation, Commissioner of Police Shehu Umar Nadada lauded the dedication and diligence of the command’s officers in combatting criminal elements. He urged them to maintain their vigilance and unwavering commitment to safeguarding the peace and security of Nasarawa state.
