According to Dungus Abdulkarim, the command’s spokesperson, the transmission towers served as crucial conduits for electricity supply from Gombe to Yobe and Borno. Suspected insurgents utilized improvised explosive devices to obliterate the towers in the early hours of Saturday, February 24.

Abdulkarim lamented, “The transmission towers, situated in Kasaisa within Damaturu Local Government Area of the state, were instrumental in providing electricity to Yobe and Borno. The destruction has left residents of both states grappling with a blackout.”

This assault marks the second attack on the towers within a mere three-month span, with the previous destruction occurring in December and subsequent repairs completed in January.
