Police Investigation: Pastor Chris Okafor Skips SCID Summons Amid Rape Allegations

Reports indicate that the cleric was instructed to report to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Panti, by 10:00 a.m. to appear before the Deputy Commissioner of Police overseeing the department. The invitation followed a directive from the Commissioner of Police, Olohundare Jimoh, who ordered a comprehensive investigation into the allegations levelled against the pastor.

The police disclosed that the summons was prompted by several petitions and complaints bordering on alleged sexual offences and other actions deemed capable of breaching public order. Authorities further stated that adequate security arrangements had been put in place for the alleged victims, urging them to present themselves at the SCID, Panti, where investigations have already commenced. The command also assured that the identities of victims and witnesses would be treated with strict confidentiality and protected.

However, by the end of the day, Pastor Okafor had reportedly not appeared at the SCID. A senior police officer, who spoke anonymously, revealed that officers assigned to the case waited for the cleric in line with the Commissioner’s directive but he failed to show up.

Another police source disclosed that representatives allegedly contacted the command on the pastor’s behalf, appealing for additional time and assuring authorities that he would eventually present himself for questioning.

It was also gathered that none of the alleged victims or witnesses reported to the SCID on Monday to formally identify themselves or make statements to investigators.

Efforts to obtain an official response from the police spokesperson were unsuccessful as calls and messages went unanswered as of the time of filing this report.

The controversy surrounding the cleric reportedly began in mid-December 2025 after multiple allegations surfaced on social media and gained widespread attention. Among the claims was one made by Nollywood actress Doris Ogala, who alleged in a series of social media posts that she had a prolonged sexual relationship with the pastor beginning in 2017, accusing him of broken promises and actions that allegedly affected her personal life.

Amid the growing backlash, Pastor Okafor was reported to have addressed his congregation on New Year’s Day, where he apologised for past mistakes and publicly sought forgiveness.

The unfolding scandal has also sparked reports that the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria may be considering disciplinary measures, while the pastor is said to have stepped aside from active pastoral duties as investigations and public scrutiny continue.
