INEC Update: Baba-Ahmed Listed As PRP National Chairman, Sparks Reactions Online
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has updated its official portal to recognise Hakeem Baba-Ahmed as the National Chairman of the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP).
According to Ireporter Online, the update follows the party’s recent national convention held in Abuja, where new leadership emerged. The development is seen as a move to resolve earlier uncertainties surrounding the party’s leadership structure, particularly as political parties intensify preparations ahead of the 2027 general elections.
A review of INEC’s portal shows Baba-Ahmed listed alongside members of the party’s National Working Committee. Other officials recognised include Kanu Sunday Uchenna as National Secretary, Bayawo Yunusa Abdullahi as National Treasurer, Chuka Patrick as National Financial Secretary, and Vincent Danladi Okudu as National Legal Adviser.
Reacting to the development, the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Muhammed Bello Ishaq, welcomed the update, describing it as formal recognition of the party’s new leadership following a successful convention. He also dismissed reports suggesting internal divisions within the party, insisting that claims of factionalisation are unfounded.
At the convention, Baba-Ahmed was elected alongside other national officers, including Deputy National Chairman (North), Buhari Haruna, and National Organising Secretary, Haruna Nanven. Zonal representatives were also inaugurated to strengthen the party’s structure across various regions of the country.
