According to Ireporter Online, the Ogun State Police Command has arrested a suspect in connection with the death of Afrofuji singer Adesina Afeez, popularly known as Destiny Boy. The case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Homicide Section, for a more in-depth investigation.

The command’s spokesperson, Babaseyi Oluseyi, confirmed that investigations have commenced into the circumstances surrounding the 22-year-old artist’s death. Oluseyi stated that one individual is currently in custody as detectives continue their inquiries.

News of Destiny Boy’s passing emerged on Sunday after videos circulated online showing his body being transported to a mortuary, sparking grief among fans and questions regarding the cause of his death. In one clip, the singer was seen lying at the back of a vehicle with cotton wool in his nostrils and ears. Another video featured an unidentified associate claiming that Destiny Boy had been managing a private health issue before his death and that efforts were made to help him, though he did not survive.

Born Afeez Adeshina, Destiny Boy began his music career at a young age, blending traditional Fuji sounds with modern tracks. He started as a backup dancer at T2 Boys Studios in Agege for Fuji star Pasuma before gaining attention in 2019 with a Fuji-style cover of Davido’s hit song If. He later released covers of songs by Tekno, 2Baba, 9ice, and Small Doctor, as well as original tracks including Lamba, One Transaction, Gbese, Billion Dollar, Mio Gbonkankan, and Lowkey.
