Police Reinforcements Arrive In Plateau As IGP Deploys DIG and Elite Squads To Tackle Violence

The IGP has tasked Deputy Inspector-General of Police (DIG) Kwazhi Dali Yakubu, in charge of Operations, to lead the intervention aimed at curbing attacks in Bokkos Local Government Area (LGA) and nearby communities.

This operation includes the use of advanced surveillance drones, Armored Personnel Carriers (APCs), helicopters, and specialized platoons from the Special Intervention Squad (SIS). These reinforcements come in response to the recent wave of violence, which began on March 28, 2025, with armed assailants attacking Bokkos, resulting in deaths and injuries. The IGP’s directive is a robust effort to restore peace and ensure the safety of the state’s residents.

Upon arriving in Plateau, DIG Kwazhi Dali Yakubu visited Governor Caleb Mutfwang to offer condolences and assess the situation. The Nigeria Police Force is committed to working with local government and other stakeholders to bring long-term peace to the region. Residents are urged to cooperate with authorities to aid ongoing investigations and efforts for stability in Plateau.
