Policeman ‘Assaulted’ By Seun Kuti Among Over 10,000 Officers Promoted By PSC
Mohammed Aminu, the personnel who was reportedly assaulted by Seun Kuti, has been promoted to the rank of assistant superintendent of police (ASP).
The Police Service Commission (PSC) praised Aminu for his exemplary professionalism and self-restraint in the face of provocation by Seun Kuti, the Afrobeat singer.
On May 15, Seun Kuti was arrested after a video of him assaulting a police officer on the Third Mainland Bridge went viral.
Twenty-four hours later, the singer was arraigned before the magistrate’s court in Yaba.

On May 23, he was released from police custody after spending eight days in detention.
Seun Kuti is scheduled to appear in court again on September 27.
In a statement issued on Thursday, Ikechukwu Ani, PSC spokesperson, announced that the commission also approved the promotion of 14,052 inspectors to the rank of assistant superintendents of police (unconfirmed).
Furthermore, the commission confirmed 9,016 unconfirmed ASPs.
Additionally, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the force spokesperson, has been promoted to the rank of assistant commissioner of police.
Solomon Arase, chairman of the commission, urged the newly promoted officers to consider their promotion as a call to greater dedication to serving their country.
He emphasized the importance of respecting the human rights of citizens and warned that any officer who violates the professional code of ethics will face serious consequences. Conversely, those who uphold the principles of the law will be duly recognized.
